How to wake up early and love it.

Let me guess you're not a early person and never will be? FALSE!
Any one can become an early person. Being an early bird is awesome. There is nothing more unnattractive than a person who sleeps into the PM hours

There are many benefits to being a early person. Take for example this article by forbes.http://www.forbes.com/pictures/ehjh45khem/earn-better-grades-2/

When you wake up early you are taking advantage of everything while the world sleeps. The early morning hours are precious. They are prime hours for productivity.

So how do you start the journey of becoming a morning person? Glad I asked. First pick your target waking up time. It will be helpful to take it slowly. go 15 minutes earlier every couple of days till you reach your goal. The first Morning is going to suck. I can promise you that. Follow the steps below.
  • It is important to go to bed on time. Pick a bed time and stick with it.Make sure to be in bed at your designated bedtime. If you stay up till 2 and expect to wake up at 6 you're going to lose every time.
  • Put your electronics away at least an hour before your bed time. Yup, The TV, Computer, and phone. All of them. That bright little screen keeps your mind awake.
  • What are you supposed to do without your electronics? Read a book. Not only is it good for you. it will make you sleepy. Or do Rosetta stone. That stuff can put you to sleep like no drug can.
  • No taking naps. Yup. You won't be able to go to bed if you sleep during the day.
  • Prepare for the morning the night before.

How to prepare for the morning

If you wake up at your designate time and have nothing to do but sleep, there is a very small chance you will stay awake. Make an agenda for you to accomplish when you wake up. Plane something exciting. Make a good breakfast. Put your alarm clock across the room. Your chances of success are much higher if you have to get out of bed to turn off your alarm clock. Make a morning routine. Go to bed looking forward to waking up in the morning.

Also, Don't eat three chicken breasts right before you go to bed. They will keep you awake.

Uncomfortable

I found the answer to life. There I was, very comfortable. Do you know what makes me comfortable? Playing video games, eating candy, sleeping in and watching movies. I know what makes me comfortable, I could be comfortable for the rest of my life.

However, unfortunately comfortable doesn't mean happy. So if being comfortable doesn't make me happy what does? being uncomfortable? Know what makes me uncomfortable? Things of value. Waking up early, Taking cold showers, Things of discipline make me uncomfortable. They also make me productive.

Don't sit in your harbor the rest of your life. You won't grow. Make it a priority to leave your comfort circle. Nothing good happens there, I can promise you that.

Find what makes you comfortable and avoid those things. Then, find what makes you uncomfortable and embrace those things. Face the fears of talking to other people or whatever it is you're afraid of. Boost your productivity. Make your comfortable uncomfortable and your uncomfortable comfortable.

Until next time, Kirk

How to be an aggressive walker.

In august of 2013 I went to Ukraine . One of the first things I noticed was that everyone walked really fast and aggressively. While I was there I picked up the art of how to be an aggressive walker.

Why would you want to be an aggressive walker?

There are many benefits to beings an AW.

  • You get to your destination faster.
  • you display dominance.
  • You don't look like a confused dummy running into people.
How do you become an AW?
The firsts step to walking aggressively is to walk fast. You need to speed walk.

Second, Walk with purpose and determination. Whenever you realize that you are going to walk into someone you pick which side you're going to go on and you stick with it no matter what. This works because you are taking the initiative and acting before the other person.

You are basically choosing which path you are going to take and then playing chicken with them.

When you get stuck behind slow people (and you will!) you take the first chance you can to get out. This can be tricky if you have a group of people if they're not aggressive walkers. It is kind of like walking in a minefield.

Occasionally you'll run into people who are are on their phones and not paying an ounce of attention, in which case you either let them walk into you and be embarrassed, or you have to make the decision of which way to go again. Both are unfortunate.

Once you start walking aggressively you will soon learn how great it really is. Remember, walk swiftly with purpose, with boldness and determination, and you can be an aggressive walker too!

How to get what you want in life.

On Tuesday night I was enjoying my evening eating caramels and playing video games on my couch when my 2 year old sister discovered I was eating something she wanted. so as a 2 year old would, she came up to me and asked me for a "caramel apple". Being the jerk I am, I said no. She then demonstrated three steps to get what she wanted.

1. She was consistent. A lot more than I would have liked her to be.

2.She had patience. Everything wont come to you instantly. The longer you be consistent the more time you have to get what you want.

3. She seized the opportunity. As I moved in my seat she saw the place where the caramels were hiding. She snatched one faster than a fat kid chases a ice cream truck and she BOOKED IT! When life gives you good opportunities you take them. They won't be there for ever. Don't be a Mitch in a fast food place. ACT!

So those are the three steps to success brought to you by my sisters desire for caramels. Now of course she wouldn't have succeeded if she didn't have the desire. you have to have the desire.

So go out there and chase what you want.

Culture differences

I'll talk about the offensive things first, of course playing got your nose is a really bad idea. It is most places. Another really offensive thing to do is to tap someone else's shoe with yours, they'll get mad at you. Also don't let other people see the bottom of your shoe. So watch out! These next ones aren't offensive as much as they are superstitions, drinking cold water is really weird, they think drinking cold stuff is bad for your health, and it's not just water too, it's juice as well, ( not sure about milk)) but we drink warm juice sometimes. Whistling isn't offensive but they think you're blowing your soul out of your body or something, so they'll just look at you funny and tell you to stop. Also, it is bad luck to do anything between a doorway so be carefull when you offer your hand.

And that's about all I know.
Enjoy this picture of this lake we stopped at on our drive to sumy.

The mission home.

We got on a  overnight train on I think Tuesday night, we woke up on Wednesday and as so as we got off our train there was president Lockhead ready for us, we went to the mission home which is one of the nicest places ever. President and sister Lockhead are really nice and spoil us. That morning we had a nice breakfast and grandpa and pres. Lockhead got in a really deep doctrinal discussion which was basically general conference at the breakfast table.
I couldn't believe how much room was In my room.

The grocery store, temple and military museum.

Side note: it has been difficult to fun Internet acces, I will bring you up to day though.

We went to the grocery on Monday evening, we bought a bunch of stuff, and there was a miscommunication so we thought it was 600 grieven and we did not have that much, so we pranced around trying to talk to someone we figured that the total of our stuff was about 75 to 80 dollars, needless to say it was only  76 grieven or something, which we could easily pay. So it was embarrassing as I stood in front of the cashier while she was just getting ticked off, moving on!

We went to the temple which was a good experience this girl tried to talk to me and it was embarrassing because I couldn't answer her questions, although we established that I was from Utah and her name was Olga. I got in two sessions  in the time that we were there.
( looks like the timp temple doesn't it?)

We went to this military museum which Mitch went ecstatic In it.

My trip to Ukraine part one!

Yup, I am in Europe right now, I left Saturday evening to my grandparents house, spent the night, woke up the next morning to go to the airport. My first flight was from slc to Atlanta, it was 3 hours and 7 minutes, then we had a one hour difference between our next flight which was to Paris, this was the long one, the first thing I noticed was that this plane didn't have tv's on each seat. Which meant you couldn't control what you watch, so I watched this movie called "mud" and "chasing mavericks" there was another movie playing but I didn't watch it. The flight was seven hours and 35 minutes, we got to Paris at 5:35 am, which was one of the weirdest things ever because it felt like the morning because it was even though my body clock was winding down. We had two hours this time. The next plane was with air France and the seats were really squished and crowded and it sucked, at least it wasn't the 7 hour flight.

Airplanes. Airplanes are really cool because when you get on you feel like you're getting on a Disneyland ride. And then you go like 600 miles an hour.

Anyways, now I am sitting in my hotel room which I will be In for one day, it will have been about 30 hours without a actual nights rest. By the way did you guys know that the earphone jack on planes are on your seat handle in most cases? It took us about an hour and a half to find out.
I think this is the slc airport. So yeah, recap. I'll try to keep up.
Me in my bed!

The time I went to Walmart for the keys to the demon prison.

On march 23 of 2010 ''Keys to the demon prison'' the fifth and final book in Brandon mull's ''Fablehaven'' series was released. Me and My buddy Mitch were so desperate to go to the launch party for it. luckily we had a friend that was going to go so we somehow managed to hitch a ride with his family.

We were at his house at the time that they asked, for some reason we had to wait for almost an hour and a half for before our friend got home before we left. luckily his little sister was watching a movie called felicity (a movie I hope to never watch ever again). so we didn't die of boredom.

By the time that we got to the launch party we had found out that the book was selling for about $21 I had scraped every last penny in my house and racked up about $16.74 Ahh I was so upset I didn't have enough money for it.

And so my quest began, I was going to buy that book no matter what it took. one problem though, I didn't have enough money. I went to a store every day of  the next week and no visit was as memorable as the one to Walmart. I had gone to Walmart and I could not find the book. I was not very happy it was supposed to be the cheapest one, the one I could actually afford. so I went to an employee  and asked her ... and I quote ... ''do you have the keys to the demon prison''... Her reaction was PRICELESS. After all I had indeed just asked if she had the keys to the demon prison. she was about to ask me if I was on drugs before I explained that it was a book. a book that was supposed to be in that very Walmart building and I was supposed to be  able to afford it. unfortunately I didn't get the book that day.

I had to wait a couple more days before I could finally get the book. but the moral of the story is :don't ask a random person if  and I quote:'' if they have the keys to the demon prison''. they will never look at you the same way ever again.

The lawn business

k I know this is long but please read it anyway.

5 years ago My 14 year old brother decided to create a lawn business with his friend Casey Christensen.

He started charging his clients about $40 dollars a month ($10 a mowing job) Soon realizing that he had several younger brothers he could hire for Extremely little pay. I was then 9 and my younger brother Andrew was 7. Casey did not Like the idea of a 7 year old mowing the lawns for him and talked to David about it. David assured him that if he did anything wrong he would fix it. Pretty soon within the first year or two something happened to the partner ship between David and Casey and the split their business.(whether David was cheating him or something I do not know)

Paying  us $1 a lawn that we mowed we soon realized that it wasn't worth it. I started begging for a raise he then told me that he got more money because he started the business, he was the only one who could trim, and because the mowers were his. he told me he would give me a raise when I learned to trim so I started to trim in our backyard, when ever I would show him my (then not so good) trimming skills he would  tell me to try again later. soon enough we were tired of David bossing us around so we decided to quit unless we got a raise, David knowing that he couldn't afford to lose us (whether I could trim or not) then offered us $2 per time. We continued working, slowly and gradually getting raises $2 turned into $2.50 then for the past two years he started paying us 5 dollars a lawn! it was soo much better than 1 dollar only a few years before.

I knew that soon he would have to go on his mission and that this business would soon be mine I was secretly waiting for the time. I soon noticed that a lot of the neighborhood boys were talking about starting their own law business. I was getting worried, and on top of that David was telling me that I was not going to do his lawns because I didn't do it good enough and that his clients might not higher him after his mission.

Now that David is on his mission the business fell into My hands. I now work with my brother Andrew and My trimming has improved A LOT! We work more as a partnership than a slavery. We often look at our 9 and 7 year old brothers and laugh that David hired us when we were that age and that he paid us so little for so long. we also get paid allot more than we ever did with David. We haven't had to worry about neighborhood kids stealing our clients. It has been very successful  and we enjoy it

My first experience with the boxing glove

I remember the first time I got punched with a boxing glove... it HURT.

One day I was at my cousins house And My  cousins and I figured out there was a little bit of space(about enough for a 7 year old) between the couch's and the wall so we started to go through our ''secret tunnel''  anyways one of my cousins found a boxing glove in our secret tunnel I told her that those weren't even ''hard'' or dangerous( they had like 6 inches of padding in them).
so she asked if she could punch me I told her yes... yup it hurt ... it knocked the wind out of me and from there I never underestimated the boxing glove again.

5 Reasons the jazz will be good.

So the jazz started the season great. went undefeated in the preseason(8 games) went undefeated on a road trip against good teams. So they were really good until they went on another road trip and were winless. and the jazz ended up not making the playoffs so 5 reasons:

1.rookies the jazz have 3 rookies 2 are really good. but derrick favors still has to develop(he's only 19). so they will improve in the offseason.

2.The jazz have three FIRST round draft picks. If they pick wisely we can improve amazingly

3. Trades. The jazz have too many people and need to get rid of some ( memo okur, fez, raja bell. but we need to include our draft picks in trading.

4. Injuries. the Jazz currently have 6 injured players . that's alot so they will heal during the summer.

5.Coach Tyrone Corbin. name me another coach who started in the middle of the season and turned out successful you can't. It takes time for a new coach to change the direction of the team. A new coach is a big deal.

My favorite game this year was when they beat the Lakers in Los Angeles (something they haven't  done in 5 years) nobody expected it. a team that wasn't going to the playoffs with their rookie coach. and Gordon Hayward(a rookie) outplayed Kobe Bryant

This is My second favorite moment when Paul millsap( a BIG forward) scored three 3's in a row to bring the jazz into overtime and the win against Miami(a team who has three all-stars.)

laser pens!

best picture I could find
While I was writing this I realized  that they are called laser pointers. But I'm going to call them laser pens. If some one ever tells you to hold one of these be carefull because you never know if it's one of those things that will shock you.

I'm sure you have seen these. The reason I am discussing this is because I was recently at a ward activity and some little kid was shining his laser pen everywhere and everybody saw it and it bugged the crap out of me. I'm sure you've probably seen these at the theater when some annoying little kid is shining it on the screen.

But once I was the one with it. My friend had about 4 of them and so some of my friends went outside late at night and started to shine them in through the window of the room My brother was in reading a book. Then we went in the house hid behind stuff  and continued shining them on him and he never ever found out who it was.

it was the funniest thing ever so laser pens are so annoying especially when little kids have them.

home repairs

Home repairs are so stressful because you have to do stuff by hand(Yeah were lazy) so here are all the thing that have broken recently.

Hot water- Recently the hot water in My kitchen sink broke so you would have to climb under the sink and turn the valve if you wanted to use hot water to wash the dishes. And the water would be running full blast the whole time you were doing the dishes. We had to do this for about a month and a half

Dishwasher- our dishwasher broke about... well just along time ago. so we had to do them by hand( this is the same time as our hot water). We finally got a used one from someone in the neighborhood. only to find out that it was dripping water when it was on. So last Thursday My mom got a new(used) one from a friend of hers. that's now in our garage waiting to be putt in. So Now I have three dishwashers in My house... two are broken.

Laundry dryer- I'm not sure how long these are supposed to last but We've been through about three of them in about ten years but the washer has been fine. i guess we should get new appliances next time

Oven- the top oven at my house broke several years ago for about a year so we had to use th bottom oven . But My grandparent's top oven was a little hotter than their bottom so their family bought a new one for them and we got theirs so now our top oven is hotter than normal but is better than nothing.

I've also had about four toasters three blenders three girdles(pancake grill) but our refrigerators and freezers have been fine

I guess we should be grateful for the stuff we have right now and not take it for granted.
comment if your dishwasher has ever broken.
